Checking In With Jobi Of Sefari Outpost
Tell us about your journey to becoming a holistic practitioner?
Like all of the magical things that have occurred in my life, revelations about practicing meditation in the Ocean came to me direct from source. One day, in meditation I received a “download”… to create a meditation experience in the Ocean. I began to imagine how I would conduct this work, and it evolved rapidly over the last few months. As I explored this experience with clients, I realized that everyone relates to the Ocean in a different way, but the urge to detoxify and connect to its energy was a collective desire shared by all participants.
How and why did you start developing your practices?
I began developing my practice as a tool to sharpen my intuitive senses and calm my mind. Meditation began for me about a year and a half ago mostly as an exercise in exploring my creativity and curiosities. It has since evolved and transformed every aspect of my life.
What is the practice you created out of this journey?
I have created an Ocean based meditation exercise on paddle boards, and I find this essential in centering and not so much grounding in the present, but fluctuating with the present.
Who was your great mentor/teacher?
Tell us your practice style and how did you choose your teaching methods?
I create an energetic shift in consciousness by capitalizing on the raw powers of nature to take individuals on a guided exploration of their creative subconscious mind. I do this by designing a meditation experience based on one’s astrological energy and building a creative sanctuary within the constructs on their mind. My method is inspired by the way in which I connect to the deepest aspects of myself and my surroundings, which is always in a pristine natural setting by water.
What obstacles has developing your courses helped you overcome in your own life?
My program has helped support my life from a financial business standpoint but also as a creative outlet for personal growth and transformation.
Who do you admire in the holistic world?
Natalie Kuhn (teaches “The Class by Taryn Toomey" + Danielle Beinstein (my spiritual astrologer + advisor)
Which ancient modality systems attract you most?
Astrology + Buddhism
How do you remain authentic within a commercial world?
I surround myself with a community of humans who love and respect themselves which inspires me to be authentic, loving, honest, respectful, and the greatest version of myself.
Tell us about your company and where we can find you?
I built an African inspired boutique and sanctuary for creative explorers in Malibu, California called Sēfari. My brand is centered in the celebration of nature and concept of personal self exploration and discovery. You can find me there most days, usually sandy and salty.
What is your favourite treatment that you like to spoil yourself with?
What do you do on a daily basis that you find keeps your life on track in a holistic way?
Thanking the Universe + myself for creating a life that inspires and fills my heart with joy.
Where is your favorite place to nourish yourself?
This depends on what kind of nourishment you are referring to, but I am going to go ahead and say that my spirit is divinely nourished in Big Sur.
Tell us about your studies. How did you build on previous educational experiences?
To be totally honest, I am still very new to the realm of wellness and holistic practice. My journey of self-awareness began about a year ago, but I would say that Life has thrown me some pretty epic curve balls which has lent to a great deal of personal transformation. When I was 15 my mother took her own life. The same year, my father and stepmother got divorced. A few years later, I had a surfing accident where I broke my neck. I was never raised religious or spiritual by any means, but Life has brought me to my knees with particular obstacles that have caused me to take a deep look inside for the answers to reality defining obstacles. My journey has since shifted to a long road of learning compassion and forgiveness for myself and others that have crossed my path. My education builds everyday, and I get closer and closer to a love and appreciation for myself and all aspects of this incredible gift we call life. As far as actual studies go, I have done the Hoffman Process, which is a transformational workshop that deals with all of the negative patterning we learn in childhood. I have also done workshops with Esalen Institute in Mindfulness, Communication, and Leadership.
What do you find is the easiest way for you to connect to your holistically minded community?
By listening and actively networking with individuals who inspire and align with my vision for a more enlightened and open hearted future.
How do you morally react to practicing new age spirituality and using western medicine?
I believe that every human being has the capacity to overcome any obstacle, be it physical, mental, spiritual, or emotional. It begins with awareness, and ends in acceptance. Sometimes the answers we seek don’t come in the form we expect, and that is part of the disconnect. The more we embrace our hopes, desires, dreams, inspirations, curiosities, the more we develop a life that is creative and fulfilling. And morally, I believe that is our only obligation. To learn how to love and accept ourselves as we are, in this moment…. right now. When we can engage in this type of awareness practice, we engage in a higher energetic vibrational frequency, this is our means of evolution and through this practice we have the capability to transcend traditional western practices. Let me be clear, I am NOT saying I do not believe in Western medicinal practice. I believe that there is NO one answer to anything, and each person is entitled to create methods that most resonate with their life. I believe in options, I believe in diversity, and I believe in creativity.
What led you to seek healthcare opportunities outside of traditional western medicine?
Exploring my interest in helping people develop to their highest potential and learn how to explore themselves and their surroundings on a deeper level.
What unique challenges and rewards come from working with your clients?
The challenge is trusting myself to provide my clients with the highest level of service to the best of my ability. The rewards are difficult to describe. They are infinite and filled with so much love, appreciation, and value. I get to watch people discover their inner beauty, skills, talents, and appreciation for themselves. And I get to do this using my gifts. I can’t imagine a greater reward.
What are some of your personal and/or professional goals for the future?
To build creative sanctuaries around the world that inspire individuals to live authentically while celebrating + protecting nature. To shift the way human beings learn to live on the planet in a way that is sustainable and creates a positive impact on our environment. To love myself more everyday and continue to love humanity in the same capacity

Anything else you would like to add?
What I would add, is that spirituality is not a practice for me, it’s a perspective. It is not something I arrived at…. This perspective evolves and shifts within me, and it is something that I try not to take too seriously. I love learning and growing in new ways but the destination itself is infinite in nature, and that is part of the fun and part of the challenge. I choose to embrace the mystery of life, and the more I lean in, the more I am supported and provided for by this incredible Universe.
