At 28, after working in corporate America for four years, I left my job and moved out to California to live and work at a retreat center. I wanted to focus on my spiritual growth and get out of the hustle and bustle of Chicago. I lived in a community of about 15 people for one year. While there I began teaching yoga and meditation, and re-focused my life. From there, I was inspired to complete my 200 hour yoga teacher training in Bali and then traveled for the following nine months - in Thailand, Spain, Portugal, Australia. I taught yoga in many places and feel so blessed to have been able to meet so many people and share teachings with them all over the world. My passion is to help people, it always has been, and I feel my two outlets are yoga, as well as my personal blog which I just recently launched. I have always felt a gift of being able to connect with people and help them connect with themselves. It is what I feel is my purpose in this lifetime and what I hope to continue to do.
I am greatly inspired by the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism. The retreat center I lived and worked at in California was grounded in these teachings. While being there was my first exposure to Buddhism, the teaching really resonated with how my parents raised me, and how I already was trying to live my life. I believe in love and compassion toward all beings. I believe that we are our greatest teachers, and my goal as a yoga teacher is more to be a guide for someone on the path, to help them find the light, love and answers within.
